5 top tips to help with wearing, putting on and taking off compression garments

Our patient group feel strongly that they can help others who wear compression garments so have put together their 5 top tips for wearing, putting on and taking off your compression garments:
- Laurie says ‘I am a stroke survivor and have issues with my hands so using an applicator has been a great help’
- Joan says ‘I wear a sock with a zip in it, it helps to have a liner underneath so that the zip does not catch on the skin when it is being done up’
- Dennis says ‘allowing time and having all the things you need ready before you out on your compression helps with getting them on and getting in the right position helps’
- Tracey says ‘although I have carers to help, they do half and I do half, they put them on up to my knees and I pull up to my thighs, that way I feel more independent, and I am helping myself’
- Sandra says: ‘adjusting the tights regularly through the day can help to make them more comfortable’
