Delivering What Matters: our open annual meeting
We held our Annual General Meeting on Monday 23rd September reporting on our work and outcomes for 2023/24.
As a membership led organisation this is an important day in our calendar. The Directors are required to provide a review of the year’s activity, provide assurance that we have met our legal and fiduciary responsibilities and served in accordance with our mission. The theme of the day was Delivering What Matters and this theme underpinned all the presentations.
This day is always a point in time that is encouraging as we look back at all the collaboration and team work, at what we have achieved together as well as the significant impact we have brought to real people’s lives.
Long service awards
We want to put our energy and focus on bringing change, delivering what matters now and into the future. An exciting new feature was our Long Service Awards for the team – we were thrilled to celebrate with 17 staff who reached the important milestones of 5 or 10 years contributing to Accelerate!
An opportunity to talk to our patients
As we are here to serve our community we also opened up the day to our patients and their families. The Accelerate Patient Group wanted to talk about hosiery and garments. So we had an exhibition from Industry partners that showed the amazing breadth and variety of compression garments. Patients loved the opportunity to find out more and discuss their experience.
Important take away information for patients
Lively discussions were also held around four important areas that truly matter to patients:
- Hosiery and garment aids, the tricky area of getting them on and off!
- The importance of mobility and footwear, getting it right
- The welcome at Accelerate, how we do this and communicate with users of our services
- Digital development, access to records and digital communication
The photos tell the story of the day! Sharing, listening, openness and fun. The feedback told us that they all want similar events in the future.
Accelerate
But what mattered was being part of this diverse community, having a space where voices were truly heard and where the information and discussion resonated for them, it matched their lives and experience. A space where we are learning together.
