How getting a referral to Accelerate changed my life
Jayu, from Harrow in Northwest London gives his story of how Accelerate have improved his quality of life
“Over the last decade I have been suffering from recurring cellulitis infection and chronic swelling in my right leg which led to hospital admissions and a detrimental impact on my quality of life.
I was advised to have a knee replacement surgery in 2019, which I did, but due to the cellulitis infection coming back multiple times thereafter, I had to have the knee replacement redone, on the same leg, in both September 2020 and June 2022.
The surgeries led to further severe swelling and lymphoedema in that leg, which continued to affect my mobility and way of life.
There is no service for lymphoedema where I live, but I was recommended to go to Accelerate based in Hackney, Northeast London in September 2023 by a friend.
My GP referred me to Accelerate, and they very quickly assessed my condition and recommended stockings and a wrap which have helped to reduce the swelling in my leg and therefore improve my mobility.
It all sounds quite simple, but my quality of life is dramatically improved. They have continued to monitor my progress and have even assessed my gait and recommended footwear to improve my mobility.”
I can’t recommend them enough they have been life changing for me! I would highly recommend the clinic. They have been very supportive.
