Social Impact Report 2023 - 2024
Academy
We offer a portfolio of education that tackles lower limb health anywhere in the trajectory: from when ulceration is just beginning, right through to the very complex
Learning that matters: education that changes clinical practice
Every Academy course is grounded in one clear principle: education should drive real change in clinical practice. That’s why we focus on building clinical decision-making skills, empowering learners to create holistic, personalised, and objective treatment plans.
Challenging the status quo
Beyond teaching high-quality clinical skills like sharp debridement and advanced strapping, we aim to disrupt the status quo in lower limb education. We’re challenging the acceptance of non-healing, questioning why we label patients as “non-compliant,” and rethinking a culture that leans heavily on product training.
Empowering confidence in compression
Our mission is to empower clinicians with the confidence to apply proper compression so that acceptance and tolerance become the new standard.
We see lower limb ill-health as a public health issue. Conditions like leg ulcers and chronic oedema aren’t rare – they’re everywhere. That’s why our Academy offers a wide-ranging portfolio, from prevention to advanced skills. We collaborate with clinicians across the UK at every level, supporting GPNs to prevent leg ulcers early and teaching advanced techniques to specialists.

A team rooted in real-world experience
We’re proud of our knowledgeable Academy team, led by qualified teachers who understand ‘learning’ not just ‘delivery of teaching’–our unique strength. Our Academy team is a unique mix of qualified educators and experienced health professionals rooted in Accelerate Health. They’re not just delivering lessons – they’re out there in clinics, learning from real patients and bringing those experiences into our case studies. By sharing these genuine stories, we inspire real change in clinical practice for the better of our community.
Setting standards for inclusive and best practices
In addition to our courses, we promote best clinical practice through collaborations with societies and universities, and we actively contribute to consensus and best-practice documents. This year, we audited our teaching resources to ensure a high standard of skin tone diversity.
