Social Impact Report 2023 - 2024

Looking to the future

One of the big highlights for Accelerate in 2023/24 was the elevation of the patient voice, learning from them and creating real partnerships

Looking to the future: what do we need to change?

Our patients have much to teach us about what matters and how we can all improve the services we provide.

Hear from Sue, Nicole and Patricia about what deeply matters in the clinical environment so that they can manage their lives and condition better. A game changer for them would be earlier referral for specialist support: this requires GPs in particular to know more about what effective leg ulcer or lymphoedema care really means.

I do wish that GP’s would try to refer you to the clinic much quicker

Sue

What matters to me about clinicians that treat lymphoedema is the understanding that it is a lifelong condition, that there is no cure

Nicole

I’m treated in a way that means I can actually help myself and get better. I’ve learned how to do lymphatic drainage, which is a very light touch massage, and it really works
